IRELAND COACH DECLAN Kidney insists he is taking Saturday’s World Cup warm-up match against Scotland seriously, and that his side will treat it as a Test match.
The side selected by Kidney on Thursday was less than full strength, with the likes of Rob Kearney, Jerry Flannery and Tomas O’Leary all returning from lengthy injury absences.
Kidney insists that it is beating Scotland, and not simply giving rusty players a run out, that is the priority of his side.
“When you play a Test match there’s no holding back. You either go for it or you don’t,” he insisted on the RTE website.

“If you operate at only 80 or 90% you actually increase your chances of picking up a knock.
“It’s a Test match and that’s the way we’re approaching it – we want to go out there and get a win.”
