De la Salle clinch Munster crown

De La Salle edge out Tipperary side to claim another Munster title.

A SINGLE POINT WAS enough for De La Salle to claim a second Munster SHC title at Pairc Ui Chamoimh yesterday.

Centre back Kevin Moran, who was central to the Waterford side’s 0-9 to 0-8 win over Thurles Sarsfields insisted that his side deserved the win at the frozen Leeside venue. He told AP.

We came out on top by a point in the end, and we might just have narrowly deserved it.

We played very well in the first half and we probably should have been more up at half-time. We knew they were going to get a spell, but we got an important point when they got three in a row, and that was vital.

The pitch was frosted over and I think the two teams gave a great account of themselves, it was a great match.

The weather no doubt had an effect on the attendance too, with just 1,613 paying spectators.

Déise star John Mullane led the way for DLS as he opened the scoring in the first minute with a free and notched four more on the way to an historic title.
