DUBLIN DISTRICT SCHOOLBOY League (DDSL) clubs have this evening voted in favour of switching to a summer season from 2017 onwards.
The motion was passed at the DDSL AGM tonight with the schoolboy season now set to run parallel to the League of Ireland calendar, which runs from March to October.
The move follows recommendations from the Football Association of Ireland’s High Performance Director Ruud Dokter.
There were growing calls for the switch to be made with inclement weather and unplayable pitches disrupting large parts of the season during the winter months.
