THE OLYMPIC 800m champion and world record holder, David Rudisha, has confirmed he will run in Ireland as part of the Galway Kenya Run on September 14.
The Kenyan, who is trained by Irishman Brother Colm O’Connell, will take part in a ‘celebrity’ 800m at the Regional Sports Centre in Dangan, Co. Galway.
While it has yet to be confirmed which celebrities Rudisha will race against, other events at the meet will include an elite mile during which organisers hope to see Galway’s first ever sub-four minute mile.
The track events will be followed by a Q&A with Rudisha and Brother O’Connell in NUIG. This event will cost €10 to attend and organisers say all proceeds will go to Self Help Africa and the Galway Simon Community.
