DAVID RAWLE IS fast becoming one of Ireland’s most recognisable young actors thanks to his starring role in the massively popular Moone Boy.
But before his breakthrough on the small screen, Rawle followed the path taken by so many Irish youngsters into the world of underage GAA.
As part of RTÉ’s Thank GAA It’s Friday, the 14-year-old returned to his native Leitrim to revisit his short-lived career with Carrigallen.
“We’re only a small community,” he explained.
“Everybody would basically be playing football. There wouldn’t really be anyone under the age of 12 who hasn’t played football at some stage.
“It was brief. I wasn’t the best player in the world, we’ll say.”
Thank GAA It’s Friday airs on RTÉ 2 at 8.30pm on Friday.
