ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB have confirmed that David Ospina will join from Nice on a “long-term contract.”
The 25-year-old goalkeeper delivered several strong performances for Colombia at the World Cup in Brazil, convincing Arsene Wenger to part with an “undisclosed fee,” believed to be just over €4million.

Ospina moves to London after a six-year spell at Ligue 1 side Nice, where he made 189 first-team league appearances. The stopper’s club career began with Atlético Nacional – for whom he debuted at just 17 - in his native Colombia.
His international career has seen Ospina win 49 caps, with the first of those having arrived in 2007 against Uruguay.
“David Ospina is an excellent goalkeeper, with good experience and a proven record of performing with Nice and Colombia,” said Wenger in the club’s official statement. “He will add strength to our squad and we are very pleased that he will be joining us.”
Ospina is expected to make his first Arsenal appearance at the Emirates Cup, which takes place in London next weekend. He will compete with Polish ‘keeper Wojciech Szczęsny for a place in the Gunners’ first team this season.

The Colombian joins Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy as new signings at Arsenal this summer, while the Premier League club continue to be linked with Porto midfielder William Carvalho and Southampton defender Calum Chambers.
Ospina’s transfer is still subject to the completion of regulatory processes, but he is understood to have agreed to a four-year contract.
