You literally won't believe who Beckham thinks can win the Champions League this year

The former England captain made an unfortunate gaffe this week.

HE MAY HAVE shaken off his reputation for not being the brightest player in the game in recent years, but David Beckham is still prone to a footballing gaffe.

The ex-England captain, who won the Champions League with Manchester United in 1999, was asked at the opening of an Adidas store in Dubai this week who he thought would win this year’s tournament.

Former clubs United and Paris Saint-Germain were predictably among his selections, but his inclusion of AC Milan — who failed to qualify following a dismal 2014-15 Serie A campaign — left many fans baffled.

“Who do I fancy? Who do I want to win is a different story to who I think is going to win. Or maybe it’s not actually,” he told Sport360.

“I’m going to have to say Man United, PSG, AC Milan — one of those three I’d like to see win.”

“I’m going to have to say Man United, PSG, AC Milan — one of those three I’d like to see win.”

LIKE to see, not EXPECT to see.

I suppose “David Beckham would like it if one of his former teams won the Champion’s League” might not get the same clicks.

What you should have focused on is him omitting Real Madrid from the teams he’d like to see win.

    Hi,

You need to consider that line in the context of what he says overall in the piece rather than just focusing on one sentence in isolation.

He also says the following: “Who do I fancy? Who do I want to win is a different story to who I think is going to win. Or maybe it’s not actually.”

So basically what he’s saying is who he wants to win and who thinks can win are essentially one in the same, hence the headline is 100% accurate.

It’s getting worse here ! There’s a difference between ‘ who he thinks’ and ‘who he would like ‘ which is what he said !!!!!
