Irish striker Murphy joins Nottingham Forrest

The former Newcastle man joins on a three-year deal.

DARYL MURPHY WON’T be joining Newcastle United in the Premier League after signing with Championship side Nottingham Forest today.

Murphy, who scored five times in just 14 appearances for the Magpies as they secured promotion last season, joins Forest on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 34-year old only joined Newcastle last season following a successful spell with Ipswich, hitting double figures in all three seasons with the Tractor Boys and finishing as the Championship’s top-scorer in 2014/15, finding the net 27 times.

Murphy first moved to England in 2005 when he joined Sunderland from Waterford United.
