Ireland's Daryl Murphy scored a stunning goal last night

The 31-year-old striker was on target as Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich beat Brighton 2-0.

EYEBROWS WERE RAISED when Martin O’Neill recalled Daryl Murphy to the Ireland squad after an absence of almost six years.

However, on the evidence of last night, Murphy is well worth his place in the Irish set-up.

The 31-year-old former Celtic star hit an unstoppable first-time strike from outside the box to secure a 2-0 win for Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich against Brighton in the Championship last night.
