How to throw the perfect World Darts Championship party

If you won’t make it to Ally Pally over the next fortnight, this is the next best thing.

THE 2015 WORLD Darts Championship begins this evening at Alexandra Palace with former winner John Part kicking off the first round against Keegan Brown.

Then later tonight, current champion and world number one Michael van Gerwaen begins his defence when he takes on Joe Cullen.

It runs for the next two weeks and is live on Sky Sports. For those who aren’t lucky enough to head along in person, here’s how to recreate the Ally Pally atmosphere in your own home.

1. Fancy dress is essential

Dig out the Halloween costumes…

3. Get a female friend to accompany you into the sitting room upon arrival

Choose a suitable walk-on tune too.

4. Sing ‘Oh Michael van Gerwan’ to the tune of The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’ whenever the world number one is on the telly

Think the chant Manchester Untied fans sing for another Dutchman Robin van Persie.

5. Serve beer in jugs

Just like pints, but bigger.

7. Pick your mate with the hoarsest voice and task him with calling out the scores just like Russ Bray.

8. Blare ‘Chase The Sun’ during every break in play

You know the dance.
