EVERTON AND THE Republic of Ireland have been dealt a blow with the news that Darron Gibson’s season could be over.
Gibson is due back on Merseyside today where Everton’s medical team will assess a suspected cruciate knee injury.

The midfielder landed awkwardly on his right leg in the first half of Ireland’s 3-1 win against Kazakshtan last night and was stretchered off.
“It looks like it might be a few months,” interim manager Noel King said this morning.
With the season the way it is, it’s not going to be easy for him to get back this season I wouldn’t think.
Gibson missed the start of the Premier League season with a strain in the same knee and only recently returned to full fitness but now looks certain to face another extended period on the sidelines.
King said: “He played against Germany and maybe people will say he came back too soon but I don’t know, I think he was fit and ready to play. He played for his club before he came in.
“I feel very bad for him because he did give everything he had. He’s a fine talent and he really, really could be one of the players that Ireland could build around in the coming years depending on the way they play.”
