A MIX OF INJURIES, suspensions and rotation has paved the way for Ireland international Darron Gibson to make his first Premier League appearance of 2016 against Southampton at Goodison Park this afternoon.
Everton and Roberto Martinez are facing one of their biggest weeks of the season so far, as they face Merseyside rivals Liverpool on Wednesday in the league before taking on Manchester United three days later in the FA Cup semi-final.
With that in mind Martinez has decided to rest veteran midfielder Gareth Barry, Ross Barkley is carrying a slight knock and is on the bench, while an injury for Tom Cleverly means he misses out completely.
Fellow Irish midfielder James McCarthy is suspended after picking up a red card against Crystal Palace in midweek.
Today is only Gibsonโs eighth appearance for the Toffees in all competitions this season, with todayโs game being his first start in the Premier League.
So Madridโs possible front 6 is Kroos, Modric, Rodriguez, Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema. Bonkers.
Yep, and benzema looks like the weak link in that line up!!
You have to wonder how theyll fit all the best players in one line up
Itโll add to the competition in the squad, which will improve the overall level of performance as each individual player will have to keep improving and maintaining the quality of his own game in order to have a chance of being selected and maintaining his position in the 1st XI.
80 million is madness
Being obsessed with jonjo shelvey is normal in comparison
I am jonjo shelvey
Iโm Jonjo Shelvey and so is my wife!
Thought your wife was Brian.
Something like 9 goals in 35 games for Monaco. Mad sthuff altogether
This fella is going to the top, what a talent! What a squad of players! Ridiculous
Madrid go from doing some fantastic business (Kroos) with some poor.
He had a good WC but canโt see him being worth close to that money. Great potential he could flounder under the weight of expectation. As a Madridista i would have preferred they looked for an established defender.
Any self confessed โMadridistaโ would know that heโs been lighting up world football for the last 3 years with Porto and Monacoโฆ Rodriguez sitting in front of Kroos and Modric with Bale and Ronaldo either side is any managerโs dream. Unreal business from them.
I wouldnโt call scoring 9 goals in a fairly average French League โlighting up world footballโ. Very good player, but not worth โฌ80m in my opinion.
Alright Wikipedia calm down!
Lighting up the world???
What with a massive 9 goals from 34 appearances? I see your easily impressed!
Not bad but at the same time not particularly impressive stats. Porto and Monaco are grand, as are their leagues but La Liga and the Champions League and more so Real Madrid are a much, much bigger step up.
Time will tell if it is โunreal businessโ from Real. Canโt help but feel they are trying to match Barca in signing as many top forwards as possible. Their defence is their weakest point and Iโd rather 80mil be blown on someone like Kompany myself.
This is gett
Football has gone mad. UEFA talk of fair play, but the rules in Spain allow the two big guys to receive maybe 95% of TV moneyโฆ. Watch Atletico sink this year.
