Look away now if you're squeamish! The knock Darren O'Dea sustained yesterday is nasty

The defender hopes to be fit for next week, however.

IT’S BEEN A pretty good week for Darren O’Dea so a nasty looking injury picked up during Blackpool’s game against Millwall yesterday wasn’t going to dampen his spirits.

The Republic of Ireland international extended his short-term deal with the Championship strugglers on Thursday and then helped his side to a crucial three points on Saturday.

But, it came at a cost.

Shortly after expressing his delight at the win on Twitter, O’Dea posted this gruesome picture of his ankle. The 27-year-old was forced off after just 21 minutes of the game at Bloomfield Road and it’s no wonder why…

The result means David Forde’s Millwall remain in the bottom three and two points from safety. Blackpool, meanwhile, are rooted to the foot of the standings despite their third win of the campaign.

Is Ireland’s Jon Walters set for a reunion with old boss Tony Pulis?

Paul McShane’s an auld fella! It’s the sporting tweets of the week
