EVERYBODY WANTS A piece of the London footballers these days.
President Michael D Higgins made sure to stop and press the flesh yesterday ahead of the Exiles’ historic Connacht final appearance.
Comedian Dara O’Briain, who lives in London with his family, also sent this good luck message to Paul Coggins and his men before Sunday’s meeting with Mayo.
“Gentlemen of the London football team, you may think that this country ground to a halt when Andy Murray was playing two weeks ago in the Wimbledon final but it is as nothing to what happens at two o’clock on Sunday.
“The streets of Hackney will be empty, there will be no one in Bermondsey, no one will be out in Chiswick. It will be astonishing.
From borough to borough they speak of little else than how the men of London will do against the mighty men of Mayo.
Best of luck lads. On behalf of all the emigrants here, good luck.
