Cormier: injured. John Locher

Daniel Cormier is injured, and the UFC needs to find a new main event for 206

Light-heavyweight title fight pulled from 10 December card in Toronto.

DANIEL CORMIER HAS been forced to pull out of his light-heavyweight title defence at UFC 206, according to reports.

Cormier was set to defend his title against Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson in the main event on 10 December.

MMAFighting.com reported on Friday evening that the champion has sustained an injury and withdrawn, leaving UFC bosses scrambling with just two weeks to go until the Toronto show.

Cormier (18-1) has only defended his title once since beating Johnson in May 2015 to claim the belt vacated by Jon Jones. His only fight in 2016 was a non-title three-round fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 200 in July.

His withdrawal could see the co-main event between featherweight contenders Anthony Pettis and Max Holloway bumped up a spot, although it is understood that the UFC is hoping to find an alternative opponent for Johnson and keep him on the card.
