Liverpool's Daniel Agger open to Barcelona move

An offer of £14.6million for Agger has been turned down by Anfield chiefs.

LIVERPOOL DEFENDER Daniel Agger may be interested in a move to Barcelona should the La Liga champions reach an agreement with his club.

Barcelona have been linked with several Premier League defenders in the off-season, including Agger and Chelsea centre-back David Luiz.

An offer of £14.6million for Agger has been turned down by Liverpool and the Denmark international’s agent Per Steffensen said a move would only be considered if Brendan Rodgers’ side accepted a bid.

“We are aware that Barcelona have made an offer for Daniel that Liverpool have rejected,” he said. “Daniel has a contract with Liverpool for the next three years and it would be up to the clubs to agree a fee for his transfer in order for that to change.”

Barcelona may not make another offer for Agger as they continue their chase of Luiz, who remains their number one target.

Why wouldn’t it? League contenders, CL games, better squad and players. Why would he not join?

He’s by far and away their best centre back. There’s no way they’ll let him leave for that little in the first place, and they won’t let him leave for the same reason that Suarez isn’t going anywhere. They’ll have no time to sign a proper replacement. Especially since any fee will be wildly inflated given that clubs know they’d be looking for a centre.

And it’s not helped by the fact that they have so little depth in the position. It looks like Toure and Wisdom will be starting at the weekend since Agger and Skrtel aren’t 100%.

He may want to join Barca, but there’s no way he’ll be let go.

Liverpool should take the money and run. Average centre half at best. Get Ashley Williams on the cheap and weaken potential rival.

He’s just been made the new vice captain at Liverpool only a few days ago, so doubt he will leave now!

Headline states Agger is open to a move and then the article doesn’t support it in any way.

    Lazy journalism at best.
