Dani Alves responds to horrible racist abuse in remarkably calm fashion

We’re not sure we could have shown the same restraint.

BARCELONA WERE PLAYING Villarreal at El Madrigal last night and won a corner which Dani Alves stepped up to take.

However, before the Brazilian could take it, a banana was thrown in his direction.

Alves’ response to the obviously provocative gesture was unique:

Speaking after the game, Alves said: ”I have been in Spain 11 years and it has been the same for 11 years. You have to laugh at these backward people,” he said.

“We are not going to change it, so you have to take it almost as a joke and laugh at them.”

H/T to Ned who was the first person to send it our way.
