Irishman Dan Martin suffers final turn crash in Liege-Bastogne-Liege

The 27-year-old was sitting second coming into the sharp left-hand corner.

IRISH CYCLIST DAN Martin suffered heartbreak at the final turn of his defence of the Liege-Bastogne-Liege Classic in Belgium this afternoon.

The Garmin Sharp man was sitting in second coming into the sharp left-hand corner and looked in good shape for the sprint finish before his unlucky slip. Simon Gerrans of Orica Greenedge took advantage to win the race just 300 metres down the road, holding off Alejandro Valverde.

Spare a thought for 27-year-old Martin after his heartbreaking crash.
