DAN CARTER MIGHT be in the twilight of his playing career, but his rugby brain is as sharp as ever.

Racing Métro trailed Grenoble in Saturday’s high-scoring Top 14 clash before Carter set up the winning try with this piece of gloriously quick thinking.

Spotting Grenoble napping, the All Blacks legend took a quick tap penalty before dinking the ball in behind the defence for Joe Rokocoko to gather and touch down under the posts.

Carter’s conversion edged Racing into a one-point lead and he added a late penalty to seal a 39-35 win.
