Damien Delaney added to Ireland squad for World Cup qualifiers

Caretaker manager Noel King will trim his provisional squad from 26 to 23 after this weekend’s games.

DAMIEN DELANEY HAS been added to the Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Kazakhstan.

The Crystal Palace defender was originally left out of caretaker manager Noel King’s provisional squad when it was announced on Monday.

But the FAI confirmed this evening that Delaney will be in contention when King cuts his squad from 26 to 23 players this weekend.

Delaney’s most recent international caps came in June against Georgia as well as a late substitute appearance in the New York friendly against Spain.

Ireland play Germany on 11 October before they welcome Kazakhstan to Dublin on 15 October for their final game in Group C.
