Blind set for Man United after club agrees €18m fee with Ajax - reports

The Netherlands’ left back may be following Angel di Maria through the door at Old Trafford.

DALEY BLIND IS set to join Manchester United from Ajax for a fee of €18million (close to £14million), according to reports in Holland.

The 24-year-old, who can play at left back or as a defensive midfielder, would become the Premier League club’s fifth signing of the summer and would provide a major boost after United’s stuttering start to the current season.

Blind starred for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Brazil in June and July, impressing in a side managed by Louis van Gaal, now installed as Man United boss.

De Telegraaf‘s Mike Verweij, who also broke the story of van Gaal’s move to England, says an €18million fee has been agreed between United and Blind’s current club, Ajax.

Meanwhile, the BBC report that the player has not yet signed off on personal terms, so there remains work to be done on concluding a deal. Blind would follow Angel di Maria into the squad at United, after the Argentinian signed for a for a British record fee of £59.7million (€75million) earlier this week.

Blind has spent his entire club career up until this point with Ajax, apart from one loan spell at Groningen in 2010. He has earned 19 senior international caps for the Netherlands, as well as playing for his country all the way up through the age-grade teams from U15 level.
