Cristiano Ronaldo: My future is with Real Madrid

Sorry, Manchester United fans.

CRISTIANO RONALDO HAS dismissed suggestions he could return to Manchester United, insisting he is happy to stay at Real Madrid.

The Portugal international had hinted at dissatisfaction with life at the Santiago Bernabeu during the 2012-13 campaign, with United believed to be plotting a swoop for his services as a result.

However, Ronaldo has now insisted that he will not leave the Spanish capital, despite admitting that the reigning Premier League champions remain firmly in his affections.

“(Manchester United) is a club that has been in my heart since I was there, everyone knows that I have passion with that club. But my future now is with Real Madrid and I want to be there,” he said.

“Of course, I always look forward to getting better and better throughout the season and this year is going to be the same. I will try to be focused all the time, to win La Liga and to win the Champions League like we always do.

“I enjoy playing there, I have been playing in Spain for four years so I want to continue there. For my national team, I hope that we can qualify for the World Cup — it will be a big goal for us – so we are focused on that and I am looking forward to being in the World Cup.

“It is not the day to speak about my future. I am going to have time to do that before the pre-season. Basically it is to rest after 10 months of a long season.

“To rest, to be with my family, my child, my girlfriend and to rest. To rest, go to the beach, get a massage, play a bit of tennis. That is it.”

Ronaldo scored on 118 occasions in 292 appearances during his six seasons at Old Trafford, before sealing a world-record £80 million move to La Liga with Real. The 28-year-old has since stepped up his scoring exploits, plundering an incredible 201 goals in just 199 outings.
