Remember Ronaldo's €7m charity donation? He mightn't actually be as generous as we thought...

It had been reported that the Real Madrid star gave a massive donation to aid victims of the Nepal earthquake.

EARLIER THIS WEEK there was a real feelgood sports story that had nothing to do with goals, tries, red cards or Tim Sherwood vines. A report in France said that Cristiano Ronaldo had donated a massive €7 million to the Save the Children charity in order to help those impacted by the recent earthquakes in Nepal.

Apparently the reason for the precise figure was because 7 is Ronaldo’s shirt number… an explanation that seemed to fit perfectly for a man who brands himself as CR7. Alas, despite using his social media accounts to promote the charity, they have released a statement, which appeared in The Guardian, saying that no such donation was made.

“The global ambassador for Save the Children, Cristiano Ronaldo, has used his voice and his global visibility to raise awareness of the problems faced by the most vulnerable children around the world, including those affected by the earthquake in Nepal. The latest information on the donation of Cristiano Ronaldo to the emergency response of Save the Children in Nepal is false. After the second earthquake, which has brought further devastation to the country, the NGO wants to thank Cristiano Ronaldo and other influential people for their support in publicising the situation facing children and families in Nepal.”

It is a pity that there was no donation, but the striker has still probably indirectly raised a lot of money by plugging the charity on social media.

Ronaldo’s Real Madrid side were knocked out of the Champions League at home by Juventus last night, depriving the world of the first ever El Classico European Cup final. But Ronaldo can take some solace in the fact that his leg muscles are now so large, they could be used to snap someones neck, as demonstrated by Sayid from Lost in this gif.
