Rather than take a drop and try to scramble an up-and-down for bogey, Wheatcroft played his shot off the fence, looping it up in the air and to within a couple of feet of the pin.

A fluke, sure, but it was quite a brilliant fluke.
“I’m used to playing crazy golf,” Wheatcroft joked afterwards.
“It’s not normally a shot on the golf course but I fancied it so I thought I’d just hit it and it went well.”
