Glen Rovers and Na Piarsaigh into Cork hurling semi-finals

The pair had too much for Ballymartle and Newtownshandrum respectively.

NA PIARSAIGH ARE into the semi-finals of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship after after a big win over Newtownshandrum in Páirc Uí Chaoimh this afternoon.

They’ll play Sarsfields on Sunday September 28 after goals from Keith Buckley (2) and Padraig Gould helped them to a 3-15 to 0-14 win.

The three-time winners outscored Newtownshandrum by 3-8 to 0-7 in the second half to record the 10-point win.

In the day’s second quarter-final, Glen Rovers had three points to spare over Ballymartle despite goals from Sean O’Mahony and Johnny Wallace.

Wallace’s maximum actually leveled things up for the Riverstick men with three minutes to play but scores from Pat Horgan and Dean Brosnan gave Rovers a three point win; 0-23 to 2-14.

They’ll now play Douglas in the semi-finals.
