CORK COUNTY BOARD delegates will receive an update on the progress of the redevelopment of Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Friday after the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport approved a cost-benefit plan.
At last night’s board meeting at the Nemo Rangers complex, the plan was deemed compliant with the public spending code and, as a result, €30m of public funding earmarked for the project will now be released

“The necessary approval for the grant has been signed and we will receive official notification in the near future,” said board secretary Frank Murphy.
The meeting this Friday will provide delegates with further information but it will be held in camera, so media will not be permitted to attend.
“The tendering process has been underway for some time,” Murphy said, “and there has been extensive work done by the steering committee with contractors.
“We are now in a position to bring recommendations before the county finance committee and the full board.
“Friday’s meeting will allow for the design team to give a full presentation to the board, an opportunity to see what has been done.”
