Cork City sign promising youngster Lenihan

Talented teenager Brian Lenihan has joined the Leesiders, the club announced today.

AIRTRICITY LEAGUE PREMIER Division outfit Cork City have announced the signing of midfielder Brian Lenihan.

The versatile 18-year-old, who has represented Ireland at underage level and can also fill in at centre-half and full-back, arrives at Turner’s Cross from Munster Senior League side College Corinthians.

Talking to CorkCity.net, Lenihan expressed his delighted at making the step up to the League of Ireland.

“I trained with the squad a number of times and I enjoyed the training, so I am delighted to have signed,”  he said. “I am looking forward to making the most of this opportunity and will be working hard to try and get into the team.”

He is a player with huge potential and manager Tommy Dunne added: “Brian is a talented, young Cork player who we had heard good reports about.

We watched him a number of times and brought him in to train with us. He is a big, strong lad and he is versatile too. He has done well in training, and I am pleased to have added him to the squad.”

“We are currently speaking to a number of players with a view to strengthening the squad during the transfer window, and I would hope to have news on this over the coming days.”
