Good news for Cork City supporters as eir Sport will show BOTH legs of your Europa League qualifier

City welcome Cypriot side AEK Larnaca to Turners Cross this Thursday.

A GREAT WEEKEND for Cork City supporters continues as eir Sport have announced they will broadcast both legs of their Europa League second round qualifier against AEK Larnaca.

City extended their lead at the top of the Premier Division to 12 points yesterday afternoon when Sean Maguire bagged his 19th league goal of the season in a 1-0 win against St Patrick’s Athletic.

However focus returns again to Europe as they welcome Cypriot club Larnaca to Turners Cross for the first leg of their second round Europa League qualifier this Thursday, in what is expected to be another massive night in the history of Irish clubs playing in Europe.

City defeated Levadia Tallinn 6-2 on aggregate thanks to a pulsating 4-2 victory last Thursday night, which featured a Maguire hat-trick which made him the club’s top goalscorer in European competition.

Runaway league leaders with two games in hand, the club is harboring ambitions of matching Dundalk’s achievements last season and going all the way to the group stages of the Europa League for the very first time.

City defeated Linfield and BK Häcken in 2016 before bowing out to K.R.C. Genk in the Europa League third round last season.

The side are undefeated in all competitions in 2017, winning 19 of their 20 Premier Division fixtures so far this season, scoring 55 goals along the way while maintaining the league’s best defensive record.

They face a Larnaca side who beat Lincoln Red Imps 6-1 on aggregate in the opening round.

Eir Sport announced they would be showing the first leg live from Turners Cross in three days’ time, before later announcing they would also be broadcasting the second leg from Cyprus a week later.
