CORK CITY MISSED another chance to narrow the gap on league leaders Dundalk after John Caulfield’s side were held to a frustrating scoreless draw by Bohemians at Turner’s Cross.
The hosts had the opening period’s best chance, when Sean Maguire robbed Prendergast setting up a one-on-one with Shane Supple; however the Kilkenny man, who has struggled to score from open play in recent weeks, couldn’t force it past the Bohs custodian, and the chance went begging.
In the second period, Stephen Best was the latest to frustrate the home crowd, after a long free-kick half-cleared by Supple saw the keeper in a heap, but Michael McSweeney’s half-volley was brilliantly cleared by the sliding Gypsy defender.

Supple went off, replaced by Dean Delany, who had to pick the ball out of his net after Danny Morrissey’s shot deflected into the path of Maguire who stuck it home, but linesman Wayne McDonnell’s flag was raised.
With seven minutes added the Cross erupted in the dying moments; Maguire again finishing from a Delany save, but again the Kilkenny native was ahead of the play, City now very much behind in the title race.
Cork City: M McNulty; M McSweeney (D Morrissey 58), A Bennett, K Browne, K O’Connor; G Buckley (C Healy 80), G Bolger; S Dooley, G Holohan (M O’Sullivan 68), S Beattie; S Maguire.
Bohemians: S Supple (D Delany 57); D Pender, D Prendergast, S Best, L Fitzgerald; R Lopez; P Kavanagh, E Wearen, J Kelly (D Byrne 87); M Quigley (K Byrne 69).
Referee: R Rogers (Dublin).
