COLOMBIA STRUGGLED TO a 1-0 win over ten-man Costa Rica in Jujuy yesterday evening as this year’s Copa America again failed to ignite.
Adrian Ramos’ cool finish on the stroke of half-time was all that separated the sides, the Hertha Berlin forward perfectly timing his run to latch on to Fredy Guarin’s delicious through-ball before rounding Leonel Moreira to finish.
Costa Rica found themselves facing an uphill battle following the dismissal of striker Randall Brenes on 28 minutes and, though they managed to contain their opponents for large periods, failed to create any clear-cut chances of their own.
The result leaves Colombia on top of Group A ahead of their next game against Argentina on Wednesday evening.

This evening’s action sees all four teams in Group B begin their campaign. Brazil take on Venezuela in La Plata while Paraguay face Ecuador in Santa Fe.
