'It's heartbreaking' - McGregor breaks down over Irish fan's tragic passing

The UFC fighter gave an emotional interview remembering his conversation with 14-year-old Brendan McGlone.

CONOR MCGREGOR HAS spoken of the heartbreak he felt over the passing of a fan.

14-year-old Brendan McGlone, from Co Tyrone, spent the past 10-months battling with leukaemia and tragically passed away earlier this week.

Passionate about sport, Brendan idolised McGregor and spoke with the UFC fighter fighter over the phone just last month with the help of the Make-A-Wish foundation. The Notorious talked about winning the featherweight belt and promised to bring it back to Dungannon.

Brendan tweeted at the time:

And McGregor responded with this picture of him with Mike Tyson:

“It fucked my head up because this little kid is in Ireland, and I’m telling him ‘I’m gonna take this belt and bring it to you and we’ll raise the belt’,” an emotional McGregor told TSN. “And I would have done it.

They were thinking maybe if he got a little bit better we could fly him out to Vegas. It’s just a really sad situation. It’s heartbreaking.

“I’ve lost family members to cancer and it is a horrible, horrible thing.”

Brendan also met the likes of Olympic boxxer Paddy Barnes and Ireland rugby player Tommy Bow and Tyrone legend Peter Canavan during his treatment.
