'Take these boys back to school': Conor McGregor's motivational speech to experienced Ireland squad

‘These young pups were still in their nappies while you were knee-deep in the trenches’.

‘PRECISION BEATS POWER, timing beats speed,’ said Conor McGregor after his finest moment in the octagon, the blink-and-you-missed-it knock-out win over Jose Aldo last year.

Before Ireland kick off their Euro 2016 campaign against Sweden this afternoon, the Dubliner gave a big variation on that theme for a motivational message with RTE.

McGregor uses the advancing years in the Ireland squad – the oldest group at this Championship – as reason for positivity, calling on the men in green to go and teach the young boys in opposition a lesson – in ” the school of Ireland.”

Let’s just hope 34-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic doesn’t get a chance to tap into this confidence boost before kick-off.
