NO FIGHTER IN the history of the UFC had been champion in two weight divisions simultaneously but that all changed last night as Conor McGregor dethroned lightweight title holder Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
McGregor made history in New York on Saturday after beating Alvarez by knockout in the second round to add the lightweight belt to his featherweight crown.
It was another memorable night for McGregor and Irish Mixed Martial Arts, and here are 12 of the best pictures from Madison Square Garden.
McGregor was in typically confident mood as he entered the octagon.
The Dubliner was dominant from the outset.
And Alvarez had no answer.
The American was knocked down three times.
With McGregor's punishing left hands causing untold damage.
A brutal four-punch combination eventually finished Alvarez off.
As he was knocked-out 3 minutes and 4 seconds into the second round.
McGregor produced a masterclass in timing and precision.

Well he’s finally been proven right. He really is at Tiger’s level now.
I’d have more sympathy for him if he was as modest as luke Donald or Paul Casey! Himself and Lee Westwood have a certain arrogance!
