THE UFC HAS confirmed that Conor McGregor will fight veteran Dennis Siver in Boston early next year.

The Irish featherweight (16-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC), ranked fifth in the division, will face the 35-year-old German (22-9 MMA, 11-6 UFC) at Boston’s TD Garden on 18 January in a five-round headline bout.
Having seen off Marcus Brimage, Max Holloway, Diego Brandao and, most recently, Dustin Poirier, the 26-year-old has been calling for a title shot against Jose Aldo — who fights Chad Mendes at UFC 179 tomorrow.
In an interview on BT Sport’s Beyond The Octagon this week, however, McGregor revealed that he was eager to secure another fight in order to make as much money as possible.
Taekwondo specialist Siver returned from a nine-month drugs ban in Stockholm last month and claimed victory by decision over Charles Rosa. That win moved him up one place to tenth in the rankings.
After Ireland’s last-gasp draw with Germany in their recent Euro 2016 qualifier, McGregor sent Siver, who was born in Russian to parents of German descent before moving there as a teenager, this tweet:
Someone grab that World Cup quick. @DennisSiver we whooped you pussies on home soil. Like Id whoop you on any soil you little German midget.
Tickets go on sale on Thursday, 20 November and Irish fans are sure to travel in their numbers once again to the scene of his win over Holloway in August 2013.
