UFC PRESIDENT DANA White says Conor McGregor is seeking a return to competition against the unbeaten Khabib Nurmagomedov, in Russia.
The lightweight champion, who is currently preparing for a money-spinning boxing contest against Floyd Mayweather on 26 August, has promised to return to MMA before the year is out, with number two-ranked Nurmagomedov (24 – 0, 8 – 0 in UFC) a natural match to be made.
“He’s awesome. Conor McGregor is a fucking unicorn. There’s nothing like him. He’s working on boxing Floyd Mayweather and then he’s talking about fighting Khabib in Russia right after.”

The only wrinkle in White’s masterplan is that Nurmagomedov is also due to take on Tony Ferguson for a long-awaited interim title bout. Should the Russian come through that – as yet to-be-confirmed – contest then it would set up a tantalising meeting with the Dubliner after he hangs up the boxing gloves and gets back to the day job.
