CONOR MCGREGOR TURNED up at Bellator 187 in Dublin’s 3 Arena to support his SBG team-mate Charlie Ward but, once again, it’s the UFC lightweight champion who will be making the headlines.
Ward’s victory over John Redmond was overshadowed when McGregor jumped the cage fence to celebrate.
McGregor wasn’t a licensed cornerman for the fight so referee Marc Goddard – along with some security – approached him, separated him from Ward and put his hands on McGregor’s chest in an effort to move him out of the cage.
Goddard walked away and went to check on the defeated Redmond, who was still slumped on the ground. But McGregor skulked after Goddard and, with the referee tending to Redmond, shoved him. Security enveloped McGregor, who was still shouting and gesticulating wildly at the official.

At one stage, because of where the dust-up occurred, McGregor and a security guard knocked Redmond – who was still crouched on the floor, covered in blood and trying to come to terms with his loss – off-balance.
McGregor was escorted out of the octagon and, after standing in front of the crowd with arms aloft, he walked away but then decided to make another effort to reenter the cage, shouting ‘That was a fucking stoppage’ as security officials again swarmed around him.
He then raced around the outside of the cage, clapping his hands and screaming at the crowd, attempting to whip them into a frenzy. Moments later, TMZ cameras caught him attempting to vault into the ring and slapping a Bellator official who was trying to prevent him from doing so.
McGregor has history with referee Goddard.
At UFC Fight Night 118 in Gdansk just last month, an event where McGregor was caught on camera using a homophobic slur, the Dubliner was repeatedly asked to return to his seat by Goddard, who was officiating Artem Lobov’s fight with Andre Fili.
