'They said it was David vs. Goliath. David won' - Shane Horgan hails Connacht

The former Leinster winger was delighted at the stunning victory for Pat Lam’s men against Toulouse.

SHANE HORGAN STRUGGLED to contain himself in the closing stages of Connacht’s excellent away win over four-time Heineken Cup champions Toulouse this evening.

The former Leinster winger, on commentary duty for Sky Sports at the Stade Ernest Wallon, urged Pat Lam’s men on in the closing stages of a fascinating duel.

At the final whistle, which confirmed Connacht’s 16-14 win, he declared, “Well they said it was David versus Goliath and David has won.

What an incredible performance by Connacht and richly deserved. They played all the rugby; they looked like the aristocrats of European rugby. They were the ones who tried things, who identified the wide spaces, who went after it. They never stopped. Their tackling, their defensive line speed was phenomenal. Toulouse were well beaten here today.”

Reflecting further on the Pool 3 game, Alan Quinlan and Will Greenwood declared Connacht could be in with a quarter final chance if they win their next two Heineken Cup games.
