Connacht confident of Henshaw fitness as Poolman is ruled out for three months

The South African back suffered a knee injury in training and could be out until March.

CONNACHT HAVE CONFIRMED that South African back Danie Poolman will be out of action for three months after suffering a knee injury.

The versatile 24-year-old injured the knee in training two weeks ago and initial observations put a time-frame of three weeks on his return.

However after undergoing a scan last week the centre-cum-wing was put on ice for 12 weeks, news that prompted Pat Lam to mention Lote Tuqiri (out of contract with Leinster) as a possible, if high-priced, option to come in as cover.

Also out of contention until 2014 is prop Ronan Loughney who fractured his eye socket during Friday’s loss in Edinburgh. While Tiernan O’Halloran and Andrew Browne ‘sustained knocks’ in action for Buccaneers last weekend and have also been ruled out of the trip to Toulouse (KO Sunday 15:00 Irish time).

There was better news over the fitness of Robbie Henshaw who is expected to feature in France despite an ankle injury forcing him off during the second half in Murrayfield. Prop Brett Wilkinson has returned to full training,
