CONNACHT PLAY MUNSTER at 17.15 in a crucial Pro12 clash at Thomond Park but Pat Lam will have kept an ear to the wireless to get updates from Parc y Scarlets this afternoon.
The westerners are currently in sixth in the table and occupy the last automatic qualification spot for next season’s Champions Cup but Scarlets and Edinburgh are right behind them.
Those two sides played in Wales this afternoon and Edinburgh earned a valuable 26-15 away win that brings them level with Connacht on 43 points as it stands.
The result is a positive for Connacht however, as the Scottish side still have to face Munster and Leinster while Scarlets don’t play any of the top six in their final four games.
Tries from Phil Burleigh and David Denton gave the visitors a 17-15 lead at half time with all of the Scarlets points coming from the boot of Steven Shingler.
The only second half points came from the boot of Edinburgh kicker Sam Hidalgo-Clyne.
That’s a huge result for Connacht !
It probably won’t make a difference though unless Connacht win tonight. They’ve a nightmare run in.
This one has gone from Connacht, far too many injuries, silly defensive decisions and our 10 once again not controlling the game when the pressure was on, lam needs his full deck back fast and and has to dig up a top quality 10 for next year.
Watching on sky sports the unending bias of shane horgan towards munster all match was very off putting as an irish fan.
Alan quinlan to his credit did his best to remain impartial and speak about what both teams had to do to win the match.
Great bonus point win for Munster, but gutted it had to be against our neighbours. Tough job for Connact now.
Agree totally about Horgan, Mentis.
Constant Munster bias and quasi technical drivel. His commentary spoils the best of games.
Congrats to Munster Skarude good win in the end.
Munster launched a lot of good players from the bench, that squad depth is something Connacht just dont have at present.
Thanks Mentis.
Lam has really made Connacht competitive this season with some great results, but as you said depth has been the biggest hindrance. Best of luck in the final games, really hope you make the top six.
