Confirmed: Raul signs for Qatari club Al Sadd

The move comes after the Spaniard left Schalke on a free transfer.

QATARI CLUB AL Sadd have confirmed the signing of Raul on a free transfer from the start of the 2012/13 season.

The former Spain forward will depart Schalke after two years in the Bundesliga, having moved to Germany after a record-breaking spell at Real Madrid.

Raul made his name at Real after making his debut in 1994, before going on to win three La Liga titles and a hat-trick of Champions League crowns.

He also became Real’s all-time top scorer with 323 goals over a 16-year spell but joined Schalke two years ago.

The attacker was a success in Gelsenkirchen despite his advancing years, netting a further 40 times.

Before the end of this season he revealed the current campaign would be his last in Germany.

Raul has also scored 71 Champions League goals, the most in the competition’s history.
