Wednesday, May 29 has been set for the much-anticipated international friendly, while there is a provisional agreement to play in Dublin in 2014.

IRELAND WILL FACE England in their first international match in 18 years, it has been confirmed this afternoon.

As part of their 150th anniversary, the English FA will host the Boys in Green at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday, May 29, 2013.

News broke yesterday that the fixture had been agreed on “in principle” and, as expected, an announcement has now been made.

It will be the first time the sides have met since February 1995, when the game had to be abandoned after English hooligans caused crowd trouble at Lansdowne Road.

The friendly will come a week before Ireland’s qualifier against the Faroe Islands on June 7 and World Cup 2014 hosts Brazil will also face the Three Lions on February 6 as part of the celebrations.

The two football associations have also provisionally pencilled in November 2014 for a return fixture in Dublin.
