You'll be seeing a lot more of Colm Cooper on your TV screens this summer

The former Kerry star has signed up with The Sunday Game for the 2017 season.

RECENTLY RETIRED KERRY legend Colm Cooper has taken his first steps into a TV career with the news he’ll be featuring as a pundit on RTÉ’s The Sunday Game couch this summer.

RTÉ announced this morning that the eight-time All-Star will be providing analysis during the upcoming All-Ireland SFC campaign.

Cooper, who announced his retirement from the inter-county game last month, has appeared on the programme in the past but this year he’ll be a regular fixture, alongside fellow Kerrymen Pat Spillane and Tomas Ó Sé.

The 33-year-old has been the subject of criticism from The Sunday Game in the past. Last month, Joe Brolly said the Dr Crokes forward lacked the “warrior mentality” to be considered a true great, while in 2014 Martin McHugh labelled him a “two-trick pony.

Cooper will make an appearance on the Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ One this Saturday night, alongside Kilkenny icon Henry Shefflin.

‘Roscommon definitely got a louder cheer than we did, which was something we were stung by’
