Colm Cooper facing lengthy spell on the sidelines as scan confirms ruptured cruciate

The Kerry talisman was injured in Dr Crokes’ semi-final defeat yesterday.

COLM COOPER LOOKS set to miss Kerry’s All-Ireland championship campaign this summer.

Tests in Dublin earlier confirmed that the Crokes forward ruptured ligaments in his right knee during the AIB All-Ireland club semi-final defeat to Castlebar yesterday.

“A scan in the Santry Sports Clinic today has revealed that Colm Cooper has ruptured his cruciate ligament. He will undergo surgery in due course,” a short statement from Kingdom officials reads.  ”Kerry GAA wishes our Senior Football Captain a full and speedy recovery.”

Cooper was hurt after just 20 minutes of the game in Portlaoise yesterday and had to be helped from the pitch for treatment.
