Worrying scenes as Gooch limps out of All-Ireland Club semi after knee injury

The Kingdom forward was forced to leave the fray in the first half of Dr Crokes’ game with Castlebar Mitchels.

KERRY’S ALL-STAR FORWARD Colm Cooper could be set for an extended spell on the sidelines after he limped out of Dr Crokes All-Ireland SFC semi final with Castlebar Mitchels.

Cooper, who contributed two points in the opening stages, fell awkwardly after slotting over the latter of those scores and received treatment on-field for more than two minutes. He was eventually helped to the sidelines before Dr Crokes’ management made the call to replace him with Michael Burns.

Crokes were immediately struck with another blow as Mitchels’ Patrick Durcan scored a goal. They responded swiftly with a goal of their own from Kieran O’Leary.

Cooper watched the second half in is club tracksuit, from the sidelines, as the Mayo side gradually claimed the upper hand in a thrilling club encounter. The full-time score was Castlebar 3-13 Crokes 1-11.
