Begley: "easing back to full training" following his groin op. INPHO/Ryan Byrne

Colm Begley is on the mend following his surgery

Laois open their Division 2 campaign against Donegal tomorrow without the Parnells midfielder.

COLM BEGLEY HAS set March as the target for his Laois return.

Tomás O’Flatharta’s side open their Division 2 campaign against Donegal tomorrow but they do so without Begley who is recovering from groin surgery.

The Parnells clubman was treated by Meath footballer turned surgeon Gerry McEntee after he was diagnosed with Gilmore’s Groin (a common sports hernia) and pubic bone inflammation (osteitis pubis) before Christmas.

“I’m back almost in full training now at the moment,” Begley explained yesterday.

It’s usually a five- to ten-week recovery, depending on fitness, so I am back now and easing back to full training.

There’s a “possibility” that he will be ready for Laois’s round three match against Galway on 1 March while he also hopes to play some part in DCU’s Sigerson Cup campaign, which gets underway against NUIG on Wednesday.
