Ireland international Colin Doyle completes Scottish Premiership move

The 33-year-old Cork-born goalkeeper will make a fresh start after signing a two-year deal with Hearts.

SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP OUTFIT Hearts have announced the signing of Ireland goalkeeper Colin Doyle.

The 33-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Edinburgh club, who finished in sixth place in the top flight last season under ex-Scotland boss Craig Levein.

Doyle was a free agent after a two-year stint with English League One Club Bradford City came to an end last month, when the two parties were unable to agree terms on a new deal.

The Cork-born stopper, who has four senior caps, joined Bradford from Blackpool in 2016. A few months into his time at Bradford, he earned a first Ireland call-up in seven years.

Back in March, the Douglas native won his second cap — 10 years after his first — when he was selected by Martin O’Neill for the 1-0 defeat to Turkey. He also started in the recent friendlies against France and USA.

Doyle is expected to compete with Czech international Zdenek Zlamal, another new signing, to be Hearts’ first-choice goalkeeper this season.
