Toulon's owner paid a very classy gesture to Clermont fans after the Champions Cup final

See, Mourad Boudjellal isn’t completely evil.

MY LORD, IT must be really excruciating to be a Clermont fan. Year after year they pack the stand, the street and everywhere in between and cheer on their team in great colour.

But despite winning the majority of their games, every year ends the same – with the TV cameras cutting to sobbing Clermont fans who cannot conceal their devastation.

ASM don’t make it easy for their passionate supporters and today’s Champions Cup final was other stomach punch in a long line of disappointing Clermont days. Toulon edged the decider 24-18 and naturally, the Clermont fans were devastated afterwards.

But Toulon were very magnanimous in victory and their owner Mourad Boudjellal went down to the away end and personally commiserated with the losing supporters.

Toulon’s dominance of European rugby doesn’t look set to end any time soon but they should be commended for showing a touch of class after today’s game.
