KAUTO STAR HAS landed his fifth King George VI Chase victory at Kempton, beating much fancied rival Long Run into second place.
Having won four times between 2006 and 2009, Paul Nicholls’ brilliant chaser could only finish third last year, with Long Run also going on to take victory in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Ridden brilliantly throughout by Ruby Walsh, Kauto Star was at the forefront with Nacarat while Long Run squeezed out the challenge of Master Minded.
Although Long Run closed to within a length and a quarter he could do nothing to catch the 11-year-old at the business end, such was the dominance of his performance.
