Clarke returns in goal as Mayo prepare for Lillies

Ballintubber’s Cillian O’Connor — whose last inter-county appearance was in the All-Ireland final — is named among the replacements.

DAVID CLARKE RETURNS in goal for Mayo as manager James Horan makes four changes for the visit of Kildare to Castlebar this evening.

Mayo fell to their third Division 1 defeat against Down last weekend and now come up against a Kildare side anxious to bounce back from their Croke Park capitulation against Dublin.

Clarke is preferred to Kenneth O’Malley between the posts while Donal Vaughan’s injury sees Tom Cunniffe come in at centre-back.

Breaffy’s Seamus O’Shea is named to partner Barry Moran in midfield while Evan Regan starts at corner-forward, with Enda Varley dropping to the bench as a result.

2012 Young Player of the Year Cillian O’Connor, whose last inter-county appearance was in the All-Ireland final last September, is named among the replacements.

Throw-in at McHale Park is at 7pm.
