THERE’S NO PLACE in the Clare starting line-up for Patrick Donnellan ahead of tomorrow’s All-Ireland senior hurling qualifier against Cork at Semple Stadium.
Donnellan returns from suspension after serving a one-match ban handed down following his sending-off against Limerick in the Munster championship.
Boss Davy Fitzgerald has gone with an unchanged team for the do-or-die clash with the Rebels at Semple Stadium.
Despite coming on as sub against Offaly last weekend, Colm Galvin will have to settle for a place on the bench again.
Clare team
1. Patrick Kelly (Inagh-Kilnamona)
2. David McInerney (Tulla)
3. Cian Dillon, Capt. (Crusheen)
4. Seadna Morey (Sixmilebridge)
5. Brendan Bugler (Whitegate)
6. Patrick O’Connor (Tubber)
7. Jack Browne (Ballyea)
8. Conor Ryan (Cratloe)
9. Tony Kelly (Ballyea)
10. John Conlon (Clonlara)
11. Colin Ryan (Newmarket-on-Fergus)
12. Shane Golden (Sixmilebridge)
13. Darach Honan (Clonlara)
14. Shane O’Donnell (Éire Óg)
15. Conor McGrath (Cratloe)
Strong team. Good to see Honan up there with SOD and McGrath. They’ll put some serious pressure on the Cork full back line. Expect Cork to put a lot of pressure on the Clare full back line also. Should be a cracker.
Hard one to call, if it’s a dry day I’d give clare the edge but I’d be worried about corks aerial ability in the forwards cos we’re weak enough that way.
It is to be wet and windy tomorrow. I think Clare have too much firepower. You can never underestimate the leesiders though.
Not sure it was necessary to lead the article with Donnellan. The starting 15 are coming on the back of scoring 3-26 in a championship match they deserve the chance to build on that success. It also ensures we have a really strong bench to call upon. Up the banner.
